BEP Systems Helps Wales & West Utilities Implement an Enterprise Content Management Solution

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 15 March 2012

In April 2011, BEP Systems began working with Wales & West Utilities (WWU), the gas distribution company covering Wales and the South West, to support the company’s deployment of its Extended ECM platform from Open Text. WWU was seeking to enhance the management and control of their corporate and operational documentation, whilst also providing an archiving solution to support their extensive use of SAP. BEP’s role was to design the filing plan for the system (informing the configuration work being undertaken by WIPRO, the systems integrator for the project) and define the information governance policies for the implementation.

Via a series of meetings and workshops, BEP engaged with staff across the business, including Asset Management, Operations, Business and Customer Services, HR & Training, Finance, IT, Procurement and Logistics. During these discussions a configuration plan was developed covering filing structures, metadata, access control and retention considerations. Simultaneous to this BEP undertook legal research and engaged with the Legal and Internal Audit teams to confirm corporate records retention rules and processes.

In November 2011, BEP provided WWU with a full Report on designing the filing system for all business areas, enabling a consistent use of business rules and rapid configuration phase. Additionally BEP created a Policy and accompanying Procedures documents for Information and Records Management. As well as containing the Records Retention Schedule, this included policy statements, processes and guidelines for managing both physical and digital content throughout their lifecycle from creation to disposition or long term preservation. This ensured that the ECM implementation was supported by suitable governance and that best practice in record keeping using the new platform would be embedded into business operations.

About BEP Systems:

BEP offers world-class advice and services for content management and information governance, including best-practices for retention and disposal, data protection, and information security.

The company’s services include:

Information governance – development of information and records management policies, procedures, business classification schemes, retention schedules (legal research), and implementation of retention policy within IT systems.

Business content analysis – A content analysis and diagnostics service that enables our customers to carry out audits of their information assets. Solutions include analysis of unstructured and semi-structured data, cleansing information, assessing data security, and preparation of content for migration.

    Microsoft SharePoint Implementation Services.

GroupLogic® Wins “Innovation in Enterprise Security” Category at Eighth Annual Info Security Products Guide’s Global Excellence Awards

Info Security Product Guide Award Winner

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) March 01, 2012

GroupLogic®, the industry’s leading provider of software products that unlock the power of new enterprise platforms, announced today that it has been awarded the “Innovation in Enterprise Security” distinction at this year’s Info Security Products Guide’s Global Excellence Awards. GroupLogic was recognized for the 2011 release and debut of mobilEcho™, the industry’s first and only Mobile File Management (MFM) product for providing secure mobile file access.

Each year, the awards recognize security and IT vendors with advanced, groundbreaking products and solutions that are helping set the bar higher for others in all areas of technology. GroupLogic’s win recognizes the company and mobilEcho among the ‘best of the best’ in the industry.

“mobilEcho was developed so that enterprise IT could take advantage of the unbounded business benefits gained from providing mobile access to corporate files for employees, but without violating the security and compliance requirements enterprises face,” said Anders Lofgren, VP of Marketing and Product Management at GroupLogic. “This recognition from Info Security Products Guide further validates our clear commitment to our customers and addressing their enterprise security needs.”

Before mobilEcho, enterprise iPad and iPhone users were forced to use inherently flawed and unsecure workarounds to access files, including emailing files to themselves or uploading enterprise files into unsecured consumer-based cloud storage environments, violating corporate security, governance and compliance policies and increasing the risk for IT managers.

GroupLogic has solved this issue by enabling enterprise IT organizations to rapidly install mobilEcho, which provides them with simple, secure and managed Mobile File Management for users of mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad. Centrally managed by IT, mobilEcho connects directly to enterprise file servers, while also giving IT the control it needs with a remote wiping feature. This greatly mitigates risk and reduces stress for IT managers – making it easy for enterprises to embrace the consumerization of IT trend. To view a video of mobilEcho in action, please visit: http://www.grouplogic.com/enterprise-file-sharing/ipad-file-system/.

More than 50 judges from a broad spectrum of industry voices from around the world participated and their average scores determined the 2012 Global Excellence Awards finalists and winners. Winners were announced during an awards dinner and presentation on February 29, 2012 in San Francisco.

Enterprise Management Associates and IBM Industry Experts to Present Free Unified Management for Security Webinar Series

Boulder, CO (PRWEB) January 19, 2012

Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, today announced it will host a complimentary Unified Management for Security Webinar series. This series, featuring EMA Managing Research Director Scott Crawford and IBM Senior Product Marketing Manager Mark Ehr, will provide a comprehensive overview of unified security and IT operations management.

“Organizations worry about the threat landscape’s unknowns, when they could go far in defending against today’s threats by better securing the known: their own environment,” says EMA’s Crawford. “A good deal of the problem for many is that their approach is more fragmented and disjointed than it needs to be. Security tools and systems management technologies are too often siloed, may not integrate well, and frequently have overlaps, even though they often perform the same functions such as software distribution and control over potentially harmful change. This complicates management and leads to exposures that are avoidable, particularly when solutions exist that could unify these silos, improve efficiencies and – most important – better protect sensitive information assets.”

What to Look for in Enterprise Asset Management Software

| CMMS Software | October 7, 2011

What to Look for in Enterprise Asset Management Software

In a bid to enable and maintain maximum operations output, businesses are employing more complex and highly priced assets. As a result, the deployment of competent enterprise asset management (EAM) software has become a necessity. Effective maintenance management capabilities also provide reporting on availability and status of assets and control of the overall maintenance and infrastructure replacement budget. To ensure that you choose the right product for your enterprise, you need to assess the usability of the product based on your company requirements, in terms of demographics – size of your company, the products and services you offer, etc. - and culture and work processes.

An EAM product can be considered effective only when it enhances productivity and efficiency by utilizing assets optimally and increases product or services output to meet or exceed customer expectations. We have provided some considerations that can help you choose the right EAM software:

1. Since it is crucial to make your employees, partners, and stockholders aware of the best practices and regulations that you follow to help control costs, execute smooth operations and maximize returns, the EAM software that you employ has to ensure that no phase of the asset lifecycle is overlooked, from the planning and engineering stage, through the maintenance and operation stage, to the retirement and disposal stage. The EAM product needs to deliver consistently accurate details throughout all phases of the asset lifecycle.

]]>

2. To ensure the longevity of your assets, the EAM software needs to plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules according to asset type, coupled with logistics and workforce realities. This includes a combination of calendar based and infrastructure utilization based triggers. Notification rules must be flexible as well, giving enough time and visibility to all involved in order to effectively manage labor scheduling and ensure that the assets themselves, as well as any needed tools, supplies, and partners are readily available at the given point of time.

3. Also the software should have the facility of real time updates of the ongoing work by allowing the managers to document and report their activities easily and swiftly into the system. Real-time data availability provides better coordination amongst internal and external workforces.

4. In today’s technical and economic environment, the cradle-to-grave management of assets requires integrated EAM software to track and report on the entire lifecycle process successfully. Only a system that effectively communicates with external applications can manage the multi-levels of resources and approvals necessary to truly manage assets in today’s competitive and often changing business climate.

5. Users are more likely to use systems with interfaces that are simple and easy to comprehend. This helps users enter data without any hindrance and further helps to reduce the total cost of ownership and to maximize knowledge capture.

6. Well architected and successfully deployed EAM systems help to improve lean maintenance functions with accurate information regarding all facets of the CMMS and Asset Management process, including tracking tool crib inventory, work requests, KPIs, and personnel certification and skills requirements. A successfully deployed EAM, will not only maximize the return on investments and expenditures related to maintenance management, but will also synchronize strategically with the business and operations vision.

The enterprise asset management tool needs to be perceived as a strategic benefit that leverages the value of your enterprise with the right selection and execution. With intelligent decisions you can boost your enterprise productivity and lower overhead costs.

AMX Begins Shipping RMS Enterprise, Software Connects AV Assets on Unprecedented Scale

RMS Enterprise from AMX; connecting more than AV and IT

Richardson, Texas (PRWEB) September 30, 2011

AMX®, the leading provider of solutions that simplify the implementation, maintenance, and use of technology to create effective environments, today announced the immediate availability of its enterprise AV management and monitoring solution, Resource Management Suite® (RMS) Enterprise™. RMS Enterprise, a scalable client-server based software for IT and AV managers, integrates and controls an organization’s diverse AV assets, lighting, HVAC, security and more and puts them on an IP network for interoperability and centralized management.

By installing RMS Enterprise integrators can offer building managers an advanced tool to manage the wide array of audiovisual assets throughout enterprise-scale deployments. At the same time its capabilities maximize a building’s performance and reduce operation costs. With a customizable, widget-based dashboard, RMS Enterprise visually graphs out matters such as lamp life of projectors, asset / location status and power consumption giving users unified control of large commercial environments via computer screens, smart phones or touch panels.

For a single facility, or multiple facilities on a global scale, RMS Enterprise is capable of web farm deployment on multiple servers with fail-over redundancy to ensure uptime. The innovative software encompasses integration of LDAP, auditing and more.

“RMS Enterprise is coming through at a time when building managers realize that resources are being wasted, but, until now – have had no ‘realistic’ way to capture the usage information from all these systems and have them on one actionable platform,” said AMX Chief Technology Officer Robert Noble. “With RMS Enterprise users can capture granular information about their building’s myriad AV devices, as well as energy consumption – and then do something about it.”

RMS Enterprise was shaped from AMX’s strategy to enable efficient, simplified management of diverse AV components installed at distances across an enterprise. Through IT-centric hardware and software solutions, which are scalable and based on open standards, AMX has forged a new breed of solutions such as the Enova® DGX 16 and 32 Digital Media Switchers and Enova DVX-3150HD Presentation Switchers that provide the backbone for implementing smart building integration – connecting systems, devices, control signals, and digital and analog audio and video signals on an IP network.

The Enova DGX Digital Media Switchers enable enterprises to add AV and control to meeting rooms throughout a building and provide centralized management of the AV assets. Instead of placing a costly rack of equipment in each meeting room, the Enova DGX, with its built-in controller, functions as a complete integrated solution that manages and distributes analog and digital audio and video including HDMI/HDCP, control, and Ethernet. In other words, it can serve as a central platform for an entire facility allowing up to 32 source devices to be shared with up to 32 rooms. By adding RMS Enterprise, IT and AV managers can centrally monitor and manage all of their AV equipment over the network, reducing energy costs with capabilities like scheduled shut-down of equipment and lights when a room is not in use.

For installations that require a control solution for individual conference rooms, while still networked for centralized control, the Enova DVX-3150HD is an all-in-one conference room solution in a compact 3U box. The Enova DVX is a controller, AV matrix switcher, scaler, analog-to-digital signal converter, twisted pair transmitter and amplifier with built-in professional grade audio processing. Designed to simplify system design and provide a future-proof solution, the DVX-3150HD’s multi-format video inputs support analog and digital signals including HDMI with HDCP sources – in the same connector.

With the Enova DGX Digital Media Switchers and Enova DVX-3150HD integrators have solutions that are easily repeatable, solve HDCP distribution challenges and are as simple as analog. This means quicker installs.

Of important note concerning school installations, this spring, in conjunction with the 2012 version of AMX SchoolView, AMX is implementing the AMX Innovation Grant. Through the AMX Innovation Grant schools purchasing AMX SchoolView will receive RMS Enterprise for free. The grant will provide schools the opportunity to report on their energy savings utilizing RMS Enterprise. For more information on the grant please contact education(at)amx(dot)com.

Availability of RMS Enterprise is initially limited to the U.S. market with International availability later this year. To learn more about RMS Enterprise, the Enova DGX Digital Media Switchers, Enova DVX-3150HD or Schoolview from AMX visit http://www.amx.com.
